Rafts.io — Free Multiplayer Raft Survival Game
You wake on a few planks in the middle of the ocean with nothing but a hook.
Everything after that is up to you: fish debris out of the water, build your
raft into something seaworthy, and stay alive long enough to reach the islands
on the horizon. Rafts.io runs in your browser — no download, no install, free to play.
How to play
- Hook the debris. Planks, palm leaves and barrels drift past constantly.
Aim at one, hold left-click to charge your throw, and reel it in.
- Extend your raft. Open crafting with Tab and place new
foundations. A bigger deck means room for a grill, a water purifier and storage.
- Eat and drink. Sea water will kill you — purify it first. Catch fish with
a rod, crack coconuts, and cook on a grill before your health starts dropping.
- Sail to an island. Raise a sail and read the wind, then mine ore, chop
palms and dig up crops. Watch for the shark circling your raft while you're away.

What you can do
Build without a grid limitFoundations, walls, floors, stairs and
roofs. Paint anything, and rebuild the whole layout whenever you like.
Craft real toolsAxes, pickaxes, hammers and spears in wood, stone
and metal — each tier is faster and lasts longer than the last.
Fish and farmCast a rod, set fishing nets that work while you're
away, and grow crops in planters on deck.
Explore islandsMine ore from rock spires, smelt it into metal,
chop palms for wood, and dive for pearls in the shallows.
Tame llamasBring one back to the raft and keep it fed — the only
crewmate that never argues about where to sail.
Automate the boring partsRun pipes between nets, purifiers and
storage so your raft keeps working while you're ashore.
Play with friends
Every raft is its own world, and up to 8 players can share one. Invite a friend
and they spawn on your deck — same ocean, same weather, same shark. Building,
cooking and sailing are all faster with a crew, and proximity voice chat means you
actually hear people as they walk across the raft. You can also play entirely solo;
nothing is gated behind having friends online.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rafts.io free?
Yes, completely. It runs in your browser with no download and no install.
Can I play Rafts.io with friends?
Yes — up to 8 players per raft. Create an account, then share an invite link and
your friends join your world directly.
Does my progress save?
Create a free account and your rafts save to the cloud, so you can pick up on any
device. Guests can play immediately, but progress stays on that one browser.
What do I do first?
Grab your hook and start pulling planks out of the water. You need wood before you
need anything else — then build a grill and a water purifier so hunger and thirst
stop being a problem.
How do I get rid of the shark?
Hit it with a spear when it comes to bite your raft. It'll leave for a while, and
drops shark meat worth cooking if you finish it off.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Rafts.io plays in landscape on phones and tablets with on-screen controls,
though a keyboard and mouse are more comfortable for building.
