Privacy Policy

Rafts.io is a free browser game. This page explains what information the game handles, why, and what happens to it. The short version: you can play without an account, we don't run ads or analytics trackers on rafts.io, we don't sell data, and the only personal information we ever hold is what you give us when you create an account.
Playing without an account
No sign-up is needed to play. As a guest, your world saves and settings are stored on your own device (browser storage) and are not sent to us. Standard technical data — your IP address and browser type — reaches our servers when you load the page or connect to multiplayer, as with any website, and appears in routine server logs.
If you create an account
Accounts exist so your progress can follow you between devices and so friends can find you. When you sign up we store:
- Username — public: other players see it in-game, in chat, and in friend lists.
- Email address — used to sign you in and recover your account. Never shown to other players, never used for marketing.
- Password — stored only as a cryptographic hash; we cannot read it.
- Game data — cloud saves (your raft and progress), pearl balance, owned cosmetics, challenge progress, and your friend list.
Account data lives in Supabase, our authentication and database provider, and on our own game server.
If you play on CrazyGames
When Rafts.io is played on CrazyGames, you can use your CrazyGames account instead of creating one with us. CrazyGames sends us a signed token with your CrazyGames user ID, username, and avatar picture URL, which we use to create and sign in a matching Rafts.io account automatically. No email address or password is involved. Ads, payments, and platform features there are operated by CrazyGames under their own privacy policy.
Chat and voice
- Text chat is relayed through our server to players in your session. Messages are not stored in a database; they exist only in transit and on players' screens.
- Voice chat is peer-to-peer between players' browsers. The audio never passes through our servers and is never recorded. Your microphone is off until you turn it on, and the browser asks for permission first.
- Player-written content — signs, flags, paintings, raft names — is visible to players who visit your raft and is stored with your save.
Moderation
To keep the game playable we can kick or ban accounts that break the rules (see the Terms of Service). Ban records include the account, the reason, and the connection's IP address at the time of the ban — the IP is kept solely to stop ban evasion. These records are retained while the ban is active.
What we don't do
- No advertising networks, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels on rafts.io.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties for their own use.
- No marketing emails.
- No collection of names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment details — the game never asks for them.
Who processes data for us
| Service | Role |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, authentication, and game database |
| Akamai (Linode) | Hosts our game and multiplayer server |
| CrazyGames | Platform services, only when you play there |
How long we keep things
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Server logs rotate on a short schedule. Ban records last as long as the ban. Guest saves are on your own device and are yours to clear at any time (clearing browser data removes them).
Your choices and rights
You can play as a guest, pick a username that doesn't identify you, and keep your microphone off. You can ask us to show you or delete the data attached to your account, and we'll do it. Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/EEA, UK, or California) you may have formal rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data — contact us and we will honor them.
Age
Rafts.io is intended for players aged 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update this page and note it in the in-game changelog. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
Contact
The fastest way to reach us is the Rafts.io Discord. For privacy requests you can also email hello@lazyllamastudios.com.
